Eight high school students from Penn View Christian Academy recently traveled to Harrisburg where the students participated in an All-State Choir seminar and concert.  The Choir, sponsored by the Keystone Christian Education Association, was held on November 19-21.

The students from Penn View Christian Academy who participated include Katrina Cooley from Sunbury, Cherilyn Brenizer from Liverpool, Bethany Snyder from Sunbury, Kayla Lenhart from Mifflinburg, Cheyenne Peachey from Mifflinburg, Emily Stence from Mifflinburg, Megan Miller from Mifflinburg, and Ethan Hommel from Middleburg.

This year’s guest conductor, Dr. David Shaleen, previously served for 25 years as the Minister of Music for Heritage Baptist Church and music teacher at Heritage Baptist School in Frankfort, Illinois. In August 2015 he moved to a new ministry at Northside Baptist Church and Christian School in Charleston, South Carolina.

Approximately 115 students participated from schools across Pennsylvania, representing Christian schools from every geographic region of the state. The young people joined voices in singing twelve religious, classical, and patriotic works from a variety of time periods.  Two days of rehearsals gave way to a pair of final concerts, which were performed in the capitol rotunda at Harrisburg on Saturday, November 21, at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
